Singapore Airlines has been revealed as official airline for the World Championships in Singapore this year.

The 2011 Classic Canoe Marathon World series is now underway.
After four events of the series the lead in the Men’s event is shared by four competitors: Fernando PERCAZ of Argentina, Andrew BIRKETT of South Africa, Manual BUSTO FERNANDEZ of Spain and Stuart WEST of Great Britain.
In the Women’s event the lead is shared by Robyn KIME of South Africa and Sarah MILLEST of Great Britain. The leader and only competitor so far in the C1 event is Anthony WILSON of Great Britain.

Race no. 1 Rio Negro
Race no. 2 Dusi Canoe Marathon
Race no. 3 Waterland Marathon
Race no. 4 Devizes to Westminster

Please take note that the events in the series will be reconfirmed each year and some events may change.
If you would like your particular event to continue in the series in 2012 or if you would like to nominate a new event for the series your nomination must be submitted to the ICF Canoe Marathon Chairman cronberg@online.no before 1 September 2011.

The European Canoe Association (ECA) Congress recently decided to have European Championships in Canoe Marathon every year. The rule change will take effect from 2013. Read more about competitions in the coming year in the Canoe Marathon Calendar which you can find in the column to the right.

The ICF has decided to become more involved with the running of the Masters World Competitions. First step was made last year, but it will be necessary to take further actions. Read more about this in Newsletter 2011-1 which you can find in the column to the right.
