World Cups are held every year, currently two in the even years and one in the uneven years. The first World Cup in the year is normally held in late June, and the second in late July (even years). See more details in the Canoe Marathon Calendar.

World Championships are held every year, normally the third weekend in September. Special circumstances may cause deviation from this which is the case in 2011 and 2014. See more details in the Canoe Marathon Calendar.

Europe has a fixed schedule for Canoe Marathon Championships, today every second year (uneven years), from 2013 every year.
Asia has Continental Canoe Marathon Championships in 2011 together with the World Championships in Singapore 21-23 October.
